This World Health Day, we’re coming together under the theme “Together for health. Stand with science.” It marks the start of a year-long campaign celebrating how working together through science can protect the health of people, animals, plants, and our planet.

It’s also a moment to reflect on something increasingly important — the link between health and digital inclusion. From understanding people’s concerns about digital healthcare to helping individuals feel confident and in control of their choices, digital access plays a vital role in modern wellbeing.

At Age UK County Durham, our Digital Programme is here to help bridge that gap. Our friendly Digital Champions support people to:

  • Access online health services
  • Contact GPs for appointments and prescriptions
  • Navigate digital tools safely and confidently

Whether you’re new to technology or just need a helping hand, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

But health isn’t just digital — it’s physical and social too.

Staying active is one of the best things you can do for your wellbeing, and it doesn’t have to feel like a chore. From dancing to gentle exercise, there’s something for everyone in our social activities calendar.

Why not try sessions like Chance to Dance or Bellyfit? They’re a fun way to boost:

  • Physical health – improving strength, balance, flexibility, and heart health
  • Mental wellbeing – lifting your mood, reducing stress, and supporting memory

By getting your body moving and connecting with others, you can make exercise enjoyable while building meaningful social connections.
